Our family of four went for a night’s stay during the June school holidays. The kids had a relaxing and enjoyable staycation.

We booked a club room so check-in was done at the executive lounge. Though the official check-in time is at 3pm, we waited at the executive lounge till 4pm for house-keeping to get the room ready. Since we waited for more than an hour, we were given a late check-out by 2pm the next day, instead of the usual 12pm.

The executive lounge has a good view of the Causeway, with its usual weekend congestion. Instead of people-watching, we were ‘car-watching’, observing the snail speed the vehicles were moving at.

This newly opened hotel is located near the Johor Bahru Customs, Immigration, and Quarantine Complex (CIQ). Though within walking distance to nearby City Square Mall, there is no clear footpath to the mall. But the main disadvantage of its location is the road leading to the hotel is via the CIQ. This road is usually congested during the weekday peak hours and weekends. We went out for dinner and we’re stuck for more than half an hour in a traffic jam.

Our Club One-Bedroom Executive Apartment is their biggest available room type. Their house-keeping did a good job and the room was spanking clean.

The 72 sq.m unit is spacious, especially its bathroom. With both shower and bathtub, the room is almost as big as a HDB BTO flat common bedroom. Toiletries provided are from Malin + Goetz, a luxury skincare line which originated from New York.

The kitchenette is well-equipped with utensils, crockery and cutlery even though the latter two only comes in pairs. There is also a Nespresso machine which seems to be a ‘must-have’ in executive rooms nowadays. We heated up spaghetti and lasagne TV dinners in microwave oven and cooked instant noodles on the induction hob for our kids’ supper. Complimentary fruit basket consisted of a green apple, a red apple, an orange and a small bunch of grapes together with a thank you card.

The cocktail hours at the executive lounge is from 6pm to 8pm.

Here are the hot food choices available that evening:
Top left to right: mee mamak, beef schnitzel
Bottom left to right: squid ring with tartar sauce, lace pancake with chicken curry

Their executive lounge also has the rule of not admitting kids below 12. Didn’t know it till CL and I went for a hot beverage nearing its closing hours and was told about it. Most of their staff just allowed my 2 not-so-little ones in without any comment.

Breakfast at the spacious Caprilicous, which is just beside the pool. The usual buffet style breakfast selection with local choices such as porridge and nasi lemak.

Our girl took a dip in the pool facing the CIQ.

Then we popped by the gym room just to take this photo.

The idea of Spin & Play is to do your laundry and as you wait for the self-wash to be done, occupy yourself with some gaming. The use of washer is at RM7 and dryer at RM5 with laundry detergent available for free use. As you would have guessed, we were there not for using the laudrette but for the Xbox.

Their Delite Deli on ground floor looks inviting. Beverages are priced from RM11 onwards, but since we could have our free drinks at the executive lounge, we made full use of that.

Capri by Frasers Johor Bahru operates a shuttle bus service with 6 trips a day with stops at City Square Mall, KSL Mall, Mid Valley Mall and R&F Mall. Seats are made available to in-house guests only on a first-come-first-served basis. That is a good option if you are not keen to drive around town.

So, yes its service and room was great. On the other hand, the traffic around its locality is bad. Because of this, we may or may not be back again.
