Starbucks originated from Seattle, USA, but today the highest Starbucks in the world is located in Taiwan, within Taipei 101 (once the world’s tallest building in 2004 to 2009).
Mummy and Sis were in Taipei for a weekend getaway. This afternoon, we visited Taipei 101 for some shopping. The queue to go up to the Observatory at 89th floor was incredibly long so we decided to pay the Starbucks outlet at 35th floor a visit.
There was also a queue at the office tower lobby to go up to the Starbucks cafe.
We queued for more than an hour to get the visitor cards. With these in hand, we finally made our way up to the 35th floor of Taipei 101.
Each guest is limited to a stay of 90mins. A person in queue gets to go up only when someone comes down. Simple math.

The views, totally worth the time and effort spent queueing.
Once you’re there, each visitor is obliged to buy a drink. We bought a slice of cake to share as well.
After changing seats twice, we were fortunate enough to grab two window seats. Sipping coffee while soaking in the views as day turned to dusk:
It’s a good idea to go in the late afternoon as you get to see the sunset over the horizon.

Important Note:
Since our visit in September 2013, Starbucks Taipei 101 has replaced the queuing system with one in which you have to make a reservation at least a day in advance. Entry will be denied without any reservation.
They have also since then make it compulsory to have a minimum order of NT$200. Comparatively, it is still cheaper than paying NT$500 to visit the Observatory at 89th floor.
