Primo Piazza, the Italian ‘Town’ in Khao Yai

Primo Piazza is another popular attraction in Khao Yai. With a name that translates to ‘First Public Square’ from the Italian language, Primo Piazza features Italian style buildings with a central square. Standing in the middle of the square, we can easily imagine being halfway across the globe in a picturesque Italian town. For visitors who have been in one, it is a nostalgic way to bring back those travel memories.

Climb up the stairs to the roof terraces of Primo Piazza’s earth tone buildings for an overview of the entire attraction.

Primo Piazza is full of opportunities for Instagram-worthy photos pretty much everywhere you go.

There is a barn set against lush green landscape with merino sheep, donkeys and alpacas.

Each ticket entitles the holder to a bunch of grass to feed the animals.

A small bunch of grass which got gobbled up by the animals in no time. Nevertheless this simple activity brought out the child in me and I finally understand why DL and CL love animal feeding so much. The woolly coat of the animals looked so soft and fluffy I felt like giving them a big hug.

The place is not big, in fact, smaller than we imagined. We finished walking around the place in just above half an hour. Do note that there is no restaurant (understand there used to be one). Should you decide to have a snack break, head on to their ice cream parlour or cafe. We had a drink each in the cosy Primo Cafe. Should you be lucky enough to get a table on the patio, you can enjoy the cool weather outdoors while people-watching.

It is a pity that many of the commercial spaces were vacant during our trip, so there was really not much we could do. You can bring home one of these merino sheep as souvenir from its only gift shop. Couples can purchase a love lock to lock on the bridge in Primo Piazza to symbolise their love.

I am not really keen on taking Instagram-worthy photographs. Besides, there is not much activity for visitors. So personally, Primo Piazza is a good-to-visit but not a must-visit in Khao Yai. That’s me though, you may feel differently after your visit.
