A Night at Leofoo Resort Guanshi

A night’s stay at the African-themed Leofoo Resort Guanshi isn’t exactly cheap, setting us back by almost S$615.00 (for 6 of us and included breakfast and dinner).

Nevertheless it’s money well-spent for the once-in-a-lifetime experience we had and the unadulterated joy of our duo. The comfort level was enhanced by it being off-peak period, so we did not have to contend with crowds.

The lobby and stairs to our Room 222, almost right smack in the middle of 长颈鹿馆, one of their two accommodation wings:

The resort has 2 room types; the Congo Room and Kenya Room. The Congo Room is smaller at 40 sq.m with maximum 2 adults per room and the Kenya Room at 60 sq.m.

We took a Kenya Room with Greenery view, which has full-length windows and a small balcony overlooking into the safari compound. Do note the orientation of your room, whether it is Sky View or Greenery View. The difference is the former faces the sky and surrounding mountain landscape while the latter faces the resort’s ‘ecological scenic area’.

There is a choice 3 different configuration for Kenya Room, which accommodates maximum 2 adults (1 double bed), 4 adults (2 double beds) and 6 adults (3 double beds).

Being so close to the animals gave us a chance to observe them intimately to our delight. The view from our balcony was a hit, even with us adults. Hahahaha. Never knew animal watching can be so fun. After all, it’s not an everyday thing to see giraffes, zebras and flamingoes up close from our balcony.

The resort is in close proximity to Leofoo Theme Park. We took the free shuttle service to the theme park for half a day of fun.

Free play of Wii in the resort’s game room. Booking of slots by the hour was required prior to play.

We also brought the kids to a bedtime story session in the Bird’s Nest Story Room. We were the only ones there, listening to the story 森林中的守护神 in Mandarin.

The room rate included dinner for 4 adults. Heard from some family members they had buffet dinner when they visited. As we visited during the lull season, we had dinner at Cape of Good Hope Cafe where we were served African cuisine.

The kids were served free meals of porridge. For the adults, it was a 5-course dinner, comprising of appetizer, soup, salad, main course and dessert for the adults. Hence there was more than enough food to go around. Our dinner started off with a small glass of fruit vinegar each. Then an appetizer of lightly fried scallops was served with a little caviar, followed by cream soup and salad. The main course was an African-style tagine or stew with choice of beef, duck or pork. We rounded off the meal with a slice of cake each for dessert.

Breakfast the next morning at Cape of Good Hope Cafe consisted of a choice of either the Western or Chinese set.

Best part of our 2D 1N stay is undoubtedly the animals! Though we are unlikely to revisit the resort in the near future, this one will remain etched in our travel memories.
