My Stay at Airline Inn, Kaohsiung

Its good location is why I chose to stay in Airline Inn for my recent trip to Kaohsiung. Situated on a street directly opposite the main entrance of Kaohsiung Train Station, it was easy to find my way there.

Another plus is Kaohsiung Train Station is just beside an MRT station with the same name. Traveling in and around Kaohsiung is hence convenient, especially with my haversack to and from the airport. The convenient location allowed me the flexibility of going back to the hotel during mid-day to rest and shower before heading out again. Good respite from the heat outside.

I arrived on a morning flight. Though I was not able to check in early, I dropped my luggage off and headed outside. When I came back, a room key had been prepared and my luggage placed in my room.

This was the room I called ‘home’ for 3 nights. Small and compact yet well furnished. The washroom with shower is just opposite the bed, while a wash basin is provided next to the room door. The space is just nice to move around for 2, though 2 adults and 1 child is likely to be still fine. Housekeeping was good as the room was kept clean throughout my stay.

A sofa and coffee table is provided next to the bed where I could sit and enjoy my takeaway dinner from Liuhe Tourist Night Market. Here’s the spread for my Day 1 dinner: rice vermicelli in cabbage and fish broth, oyster omelette and white bittergourd juice.

Buffet breakfast is served in Airline Inn’s basement level. For 3 days, similar food were served, with variations in porridge, noodle and salad.

An interesting porridge variation on Day 3 was green bean porridge (rice porridge with green beans) eaten with savoury side dishes.

Besides ease of travelling, staying near to the train station brings about closeness to amenities such as convenience stores and eateries. A 7-11 convenience store is just across the road. KFC fast food restaurant is also just a couple of units away, so I had the chance to snack on their limited edition brown sugar and konjac egg tart while people-watching.

However, Taiwan on general has a problem with homelessness. Some of them has made the vicinity of Kaohsiung Train Station their home. Though emphatic towards them, I still thought it necessary to have a mention.
