Fruit picking is a popular activity in Taiwan for locals and visitors alike. There is such a wide range of fruits grown that fruit-picking can be done all-year round.

Here we have gathered information on seasonality of the various fruits and the farm(s) for fruit picking (courtesy of information provided by Taiwan Tourism Bureau, Taiwan Leisure Farms Development Association and Council of Agriculture).

Cultivation regions: Various; Taitung custard apples have the best quality
Taiwan has the largest custard apple cultivation area in the world, famous for production techniques and fruit quality.

Some fruits though are not available for picking but are sold at large fruits stores throughout Taiwan. These fruits includes:
1. Papaya (木瓜) – Year-round
2. Coconut (椰子) – Year-round
3. Pineapple (黄梨) – Year-round
4. Lishan Honey Apple (梨山蜜苹果) – Autumn
5. Avocado (牛油果) – Autumn
6. Grapefruit (葡萄柚) – Autumn

Important Note:

The information are for reference only, to be used as a guide for itinerary planning. Weather condition may affect fruit season.

Please check the farms’ website or contact them to confirm that the fruits are ready for picking prior to making your way there. We made the ‘mistake’ of heading to Jiangmayuan for fruit-picking without doing so, and we sure don’t want you to repeat that.

There are some smaller farms, which may also offer fruit-picking activities. If you prefer smaller establishments, ask your drivers or minsu owners for tips.
